Vanessa's Leap of Faith

Brave BPA Council member, Vanessa Rees, is about to take the leap of her life to raise money for charity. 

Vanessa, aged 43, will take part in a tandem parachute jump next week to raise much-needed funds for Fisher House at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.

Vanessa, who works as a senior marketing communications manager for HomeServe UK, said:

“This is easily going to be the biggest thing I ever do. I'm very scared but I have to do this. I first came across Fisher House as a result of my involvement with Birmingham Publicity Association.

“The BPA has supported the QE over the past two years and the hospital and its Fisher House military patient offering has become very close to my heart. I’ve met patients and their families, and I’ve seen first-hand the kind of facilities and support they receive.

“Without access to that support, these patients’ recovery would have been very different, and it’s spurred me on to do something huge to help them out.

“The MAAC charity is the nominated charity for Homeserve UK, and the organisation has pledged to match the first £2,000 I raise – so that’s incentive enough.

“Jumping out of a plane strapped to a Red Devil is huge for me, but compared to the support that these two charities provide on a day-to-day basis, it’s tiny. Every penny I raise in this leap will be donated to the charities, and I’m hoping I’ll raise well over £2,000 in order to make a real difference.”

Vanessa will make the jump on August 2nd.
