LoveBrum bags £6,500 from The BPA
The successful city charity LoveBrum was given one of its biggest donations in its almost three-year history by the Birmingham Publicity Association in December.
The £6,500 gift was made at the magical Christmas event, sponsored by Elonex Outdoor Media, at Birmingham Repertory Theatre, which was attended by more than 220 guests at its popular annual lunch.
This year’s donations go towards 400 ‘Bags for Brummies’ which will be filled with essentials for the city’s homeless community. In addition, the money will help support local charitable projects, including some of this year’s causes that didn’t win the monthly funding but will now be able to benefit from a donation from LoveBrum.
The BPA has for the last 12 months been busy changing their calendar of events to reflect the networking nature of the organisation, and what their members have been asking for, including the Speaker event with Marketing Birmingham, the Summer Carnival with street food in Digbeth, and the Midlands Media Mingles at trendy bars in the city centre.
Caroline Chell, chair of the BPA, handed over the cheque to LoveBrum on Friday 1st December, and praised the incredible work they do.
“We are so proud to be able to give such a great amount to a charity that makes such a positive difference within a city that is so important to us all we have closely followed their growth within Birmingham, to know this is such a major donation to them makes us very proud of the difference the BPA can make to their winning project around Birmingham,” she added.
“2018 looks set to be a great year for the organisation, with more networking and speaker and training events in the planning stages so watch this space,” she said.
PJ Ellis, Co-Founder of LoveBrum who attended the event said: “This donation from the BPA is truly wonderful and has already transformed what we’re able to achieve with the ‘Bags for Brummies’ initiative. We are now in a position to provide at least 400 rucksacks ready for people to fill with essential supplies for those living on the streets, and we’ve already been inundated with both individuals and corporates keen to get involved. Having BPA’s support for our first year of this project really is fantastic and it means that we can really make a difference to Birmingham’s homeless community this Christmas.”
Caroline said that such events would not be possible without a great deal of support.
“The BPA Council puts a lot of time and effort into bringing these events to fruition, volunteering their time outside of the day jobs. They also wouldn’t be possible without a number of generous sponsors – we’d specifically like to thank our event sponsor Elonex Outdoor Media, and Broadway Casino, who sponsored the drinks reception. Their backing is vital and very much appreciated.”
The BPA supports the media and creative industries in the region, while raising money for key charities that its members wish to support. Its members include global organisations to sole traders, graduate trainees right up to CEOs and MDs, media owners and agencies, advertising and marketing agencies, digital agencies, PR agencies and freelancers.
